This work package focuses on using electronic health records (EHRs) to better understand patterns related to borderline personality disorder (BPD). Building on existing research, we will examine how emotional, behavioural, and relationship instability appears in large databases of health records. Initial findings suggest that diagnoses of personality disorders are not as commonly recorded as expected, so we will explore patterns within the data to identify signs of BPD that may not be obvious through standard diagnoses. By analysing how these patterns change over time or in connection with other health conditions, we aim to improve the recognition of BPD in healthcare settings.
To ensure the reliability of our findings, we will collaborate with national experts in mental health data. Our goal is to use this information to better understand the long-term outcomes for individuals with BPD, including how childhood and adolescent experiences may impact their mental health over time.
