Our Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP) is an essential part of our research project. Our LEAP provide oversight and accountability across the lifetime of the Hub, and meet around 4 times per year, although some years they meet more often.

Our diverse LEAP has over ten people with lived experience of experience of complex emotions and difficulties that might be associated with the diagnosis of 'Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)', 'Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD)' or 'Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPSTD)'. Our Lived Experience Advisory Panel not only meet regularly online but also have co produced many of the documents we use in this research project such as the participant information sheet, interview schedule and which repeat questionnaires we use. They also have the opportunities to take on other roles in the research, such as representing our research with our funders, developing their own research projects and helping us communicate our findings. Our Lived Experience Advisory Panel us a wide range of creative methods such as writing blogs, paintings and poetry to communicate what we do.

Hi! I’m Molly, I’m a psychology student. I am very pleased to be a LEAP member; the complex emotions hub grabbed my attention as I relate to this area and I am passionate about this research. I love working with people who are enthusiastic about understanding and improving the experiences of people with complex emotions. I look forward to each stage of this crucial research!

Hi! I am Tiffany a young professional with a keen interest in psychology and mental health awareness & advocacy. I has lived experience of complex emotions and neurodiversity, and enjoys connecting with people about this. I aspire to become a clinical psychologist one day.

Hi! I’m Georgia, and I joined the LEAP in 2024 hoping to find a positive purpose for my own lived (and living!) experiences with Complex Emotions. I’m particularly passionate about advocating for the care-experienced community in the Hub’s work, and about breaking down the researcher-participant power dynamic to make sure the process of participating offers as much value and meaning to those taking part as it does for the research.
Beyond the Hub, I support lots of other research projects in different ways; campaign to improve the care system; and am Expert by Experience with the CQC. Otherwise, I’m usually found painting, in a mosh pit, enjoying a picnic on sunny days with a good book, or playing guitar (not all at once!).
